Building Relationships Beyond the Classroom

At RCSA Elementary, we believe that strong relationships between school and home help students thrive. Our Home Visit & Community Connection Program is designed to strengthen partnerships with families by creating opportunities to connect in comfortable, meaningful ways outside of the school setting.

These visits are not evaluations, conferences, or disciplinary meetings. Instead, they are an opportunity to get to know one another, celebrate each child's strengths, and build a trusting relationship that supports student success.

Home visits are informal conversations between school staff and families. While many visits take place in a family's home, they can also occur in another location that is convenient and comfortable for everyone, including:

• Your home

• A library

• A community event

• Your child's sporting event or extracurricular activity

• Another mutually agreed-upon location between student’s legal guardian and staff member  

Our goal is simply to connect with families wherever they feel most comfortable.

Every member of our RCSA Elementary team is encouraged to participate in building relationships with families.

Home visits and community connections may be completed by:

• Teachers

• Administrators

• Student Support Staff

• Interventionists

• Specials Teachers

• Other RCSA staff members

These connections can happen throughout the entire school year whenever families and staff find a convenient time.

When schools and families work together, students benefit.

Through home visits and community connections, we strive to:

• Build trusting relationships with families

• Learn more about each student's interests, strengths, and goals

• Celebrate students beyond the classroom

• Improve communication between home and school

• Create a strong partnership focused on student success

Getting to know our students and families outside of the classroom helps us better support every child's academic, social, and emotional growth.

Families are always welcome to invite an RCSA staff member to connect outside of school.

If you would like to schedule a home visit or invite a staff member to attend a community event, sporting event, or another special activity, simply reach out to your child's teacher or another RCSA staff member.
