Time Management & Study Skills

Strong organization and time-management habits help elementary students feel confident, prepared, and ready to learn. These skills take time to develop, so children benefit from simple routines and support from both home and school.

How to Create an A+ Homework Space

  • Choose a consistent time and quiet place for homework.

  • Keep pencils, crayons, scissors, and other supplies together.

  • Use one folder to carry homework between school and home.

  • Break larger assignments into smaller, manageable steps.

  • Use a timer to include short movement breaks when needed.

  • Keep televisions, tablets, and other distractions turned off.

  • Check completed work and place it in the backpack.

  • Pack the backpack each evening so everything is ready for the next day.

Children may need reminders at first, and that is okay! With practice, these small routines will help students become more independent, responsible, and successful.
